  • Must have passed the Certified Cicerone exam
  • Candidates for this level of certification must be of legal drinking age

Exam Format & Components

Candidates for Advanced Cicerone will take two consecutive three-hour written exams online. In-person written exams are available on a very limited basis. The written exam consists of questions in various formats from multiple choice to fill-in-the-blank and essays where extensive knowledge will be required.

Exam Cost - First time written $425 (all prices listed in USD); First time tasting $375; Retake tasting: $300; Retake written: $375.

Initiating an Exam

The Advanced Cicerone written exam is held four to six times a year. In-person written exams are available on a very limited basis. Dates and registration information are announced via email sent to all Certified Cicerones, so make sure that the email address associated with your profile is current and that your email program is not diverting emails from cicerone.org to a spam folder.
