Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Resources
The Cicerone Certification Program has worked with leading organizations in the beer industry through the BRU Coalition to drive positive change in the brewing industry. A key part of this effort is adoption of evidence-based best practices for both organizations and individuals aimed at preventing and responding to harassment, discrimination, and violence. Through implementation of the eight best practices identified by the BRU Coalition, we can reduce incidents of misconduct and improve the well-being of those who produce, distribute, sell, and enjoy craft beer. The Cicerone Certification Program has implemented the organization-level best practices for our company. We also intend to play an active role in informing individuals in the industry about the individual best practices and both helping and encouraging them to adopt them. In particular, we are focusing on two of the best practices for individuals:
- Self-Education – Program participants should continuously educate themselves about the prevalence of and actionable ways to prevent and ameliorate incidences of harassment, discrimination, and violence in the brewing industry.
- Responsible Alcohol Service and Consumption – Program participants should develop an understanding of the role alcohol plays in occurrences of misconduct and commit to responsible service and consumption of alcohol in industry settings.
To that end, we have started building the following collection of resources identified by us and our BRU Coalition partners below. We encourage all individuals in our community to learn from them. If you would like to recommend additional resources, please reach out to inclusion@cicerone.org
